Jedi Trainer
Jedi Trainer is a 12h project made in CIID together with Mary Huang and Pedro Andrade Nakazato for Masimo Banzi's course of Physical Computing. The aim was to build an interactive device using simple sensors and a servomotor as an actuator.
We decided to build a Jedi Trainer, a device that helps Jedis to control their inner force. They are invited to lift a cow high enough in order to turn on Yoda's green led, symbol of his happiness with the student's achievement.
The device has two hand made switches to indicate either if the cow hits the device's ground or ceiling. The "force" is measured by a simple light dependent resistor (aka. photoresistor). The microcontroller communicates with a processing sketch that plays several sounds, providing an audio feedback.
My participation in this project was in part of the microcontroller's programming and in the Processing application development.
My learnings in this project are related to the combination of technological levels (from high to low tech) in order to build a concept's fast prototype.
This was a group project made by Benoit Espinola, Mary Huang and Pedro Nakazato Andrade
